Default World's first 'tax' on Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7

    http://www.bbc.com//news/technology-18440979

The Australian online retailer Kogan.com has introduced the world's first "tax" on Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) browser.
Customers who use IE7 will have to pay an extra surcharge on online purchases made through the firm's site.
Chief executive Ruslan Kogan told the BBC he wanted to recoup the time and costs involved in "rendering the website into a antique browser".
The charge is set to 6.8% - 0.1% for every month since the IE7 launch.
    I lolled.

Some firms i have worked with wont change or update, and I had one judge not able to update or do anything on the state provided computer unless she filled out a 5 page request.

OK, lets kill IE7, but what to do with IE8, IE9? Microsoft is still incredibly suck in following standards. When I count how many man-hours we spend developing and testing for IE inconsistencies, I cry.
For all these money I'd already buy big yacht

Actually Microsoft is all for killing IE7. It wishes for people to transfer to newer ones. And ye - people who use IE, especially OLD IE deserve to be taxed.

My problem runs in the other direction. Retard software developers whose product will only run on IE8 with an obsolete (and exact) version of Java. How about a tax on developers who can't think that client software would ever advance...

That is actually the exact same problem. Those developers are the people forcing old browsers to stay in deployment at companies and governments.

I do find it amusing to hear developers going "Windoz is shit, and it runs slow" when they usually insist on setting up their own computers and then do so in a fuckwitted manner. I am a systems engineer, I don't pretend to know how to program but I am always amazed at how many programmers think they can configure systems...

We already have a 25% VAT on ebooks and music. Regular books are not taxed.
