    'close to death'
Some media reports say he is clinically dead, but Nile TV said attempts were continuing to revive him.

In the end, it doesn't really matter, the power struggle is between other people now.
Even if he lives for another few years, he's gone as a political factor.

Doctors Declare Hosni Mubarak Clinically Dead - MENA

Doctors have declared former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, toppled last year, clinically dead, the Egyptian state news agency MENA reported.
Mubarak's health took a sharp turn for the worst when he suffered a heart attack on Tuesday. Mubarak, 84, was hospitalized with his first heart failure on June 2 after he received his sentence for ordering the killing of protesters in the spring of 2011.
However, security sources told ******* on Tuesday that Mubarak, hospitalized for more than a year, is unconscious and on a respirator, but not clinically dead.

My first thought is to wonder if it was from natural causes.

Whatever becomes of Egypt, I'm afraid we in the West will find ourselves missing him soon enough.

Time flies. I still remember the day Sadat was assassinated and Mubarak came to power.
