Are you on fvcking crack? Sell China the White Swan? The tip of the spear of Russia's Strategic Aviation? By doing that you vault the strategic capabilities of the PLAAF and at the same time reduce the capabilities of the VVS, all in the hopes that the capital of that transaction will benefit R&D of the PAK DA which for all intents and purposes could very well go the way of the Myasishchev M-50 Programme.

Nobody said it was "completely useless", or anything close to that.

As a missile delivery platform, its very good. Selling it would still be stupid. However, if Russia absolutley feels the need to sell some, they may as well sell Blackjack bombers, demand exhoibrirant sums of money for both, and then try to leapfrog ahead with the PAK-DA. Still, its a bad plan regardless methinks. Again, as far as Russian finances are, they seem to be good atm. Selling would be major stupes.
Blackjacks are somewhat stealthy and would pose a more direct threat to Russia.

There are simply nowhere near enough Tu-160s around to sell them to anyone.
They are the only real russian strategic bomber (the Tu-95 is more a cruise missile platform)
Plus Russia has enough cash available, so it doesn't have to sell second hand weapons to anyone right now.
They might, with careful confidentiality agreements (which will be violated anyway) sell newly built planes to China or even cooperate on the development of a new aircraft, but they won't sell 30 year old bombers.

    Thank you!

There are only 16 Tu-160s currently in Service with RuAF and each one of them is immensely valuable as a strategic asset.

Let the 'Peoples Republic' burn through its funding for its strategic bomber.

It seems that this is not the first time this rumor has surfaced.

You should probably keep your wet dreams to yourself. Both of the above, in particular.

If the prospect of the PLAAF with Backfires is worrying, how much more worrying is the idea of the PLAAF with operational Blackjacks?

Did you miss the part where I said it would be a completely terrible and stupid idea?

Its more to do with saying how selling the Tu-22M3 is stupid as well, and saying if you're gonna sell that, may as well sell the Tu-160 as well, esp if the justification is PAK-DA. It was a rhetorical kind of remark. As for Russia having nice amounts of cash already and letting the PRC burn through cash, I already said that. Read!

If such a sale went through, we'd know who was huffing that aforementioned crack
