Even worse,as part of the sponsorship deal, Mc donalds have put in place a CHIP ban to all catering companys on the olympic site, unless they are served straight away with fish.

Well last time they had one more viewer, as I watched (for 1st time) the whole WC that was televised and enjoyed the competition a great deal. Late bloomer (me) for the sport I guess.

What a shame. I knew they would fvck this up. I could see it miles away. Such an embarrasing situation for the government.

Most of us worked that out when you said the exact same thing a week ago, but thanks for the clarification. I myself was unsure. Possibly due to MI6 interfering with my internet to prevent me reading such an earth shattering revelation.

Not really. The armed forces always were involved in the security and running of the olympics. GS4 for whatever reason are short on officers, so more military personell have been drafted in to compensate. It's not a major,or unsurmountable inconvenience.

A private company wins a public tender based on affordability and capacity. Then, the company announces it cannot cope with the demand. The government calls the boys back from Afghanistan, using taxpayers money, to secure the event.

And it's not a fiasco? Your national newspress seem to think otherwise (and its not the shytty daily fail this time):

A recruit who was interviewed in March and completed training last month, said: "There are people like me that are vetted and trained in security and would be happy to work, but can't. Some of the classes were of around 200 in size with only two trainers accommodating the training for a class of this size.

"I am yet to hear from G4S regarding my screening, accreditation, uniform or even a rough start date. I know many people also who will be commencing work on 27 July who have had absolutely no scheduled on-site training. They are simply being chucked into their role on x-ray machines, public screening areas and even athlete screening areas."
Frightening... But you're right it's just a small inconvenience.

It was not the first time the security mix needed to be changed for games costing the British taxpayer 9.3 billion pounds ($14.6 billion). The total cost of securing the venues climbed to over 553 million pounds ($862 million) — not including money for the police or the new cost added by the soldiers.

Meh. I would have full faith in the security of the event were I going. The money will come.

It happens. Are you going to claim that no company has ever failed to do what it was contracted to for the French government?

Find me some soldiers been called back from Afghanistan to help at the Olympics? Last I checked our contingent out there was up to strength. We may have had budget cuts as subtle as a Frenchman who dislikes the ros-bifs, but there are still enough military personel to maintain our Afghanistan deployment and deal with the Olympics at the same time.

I'd argue its spurious use of of adjectives like "fiasco" and "crisis". News papers don't tend to give boring headlines, and everything is described as an "emergency" or "disaster". The company contracted to do the job can't cope and some extra troops have been drafted in to make up the numbers. It's not ideal, but it's hardly "frightening" to use your word.

You seem to forget that our national past-times includes having a stiff upper lip and keeping calm as well as binge drinking and going home with munters.

Is France hosting 2012 Olympic Games ? No. So because other failed to host past events, we should be tolerant this time ?

I meant calling the soldiers who are back from Afghanistan, the ones returning from tour.

Well the bill to pay will be on the rise with the military being mobilized. I mean as British taxpayer, your money.

But the most frightening is the G4S employees actually admitting they did not recieve proper training to do the job are will be ask to do...In that case, it's actually wasting taxpayer's money and putting people's lives at risk.
