They can't, F-4s are mainly for ground strikes, they most likely has no change againts an Air superiority based fighter.

According to *******, the Turkish air force flew F-4s, and China flew Russian-built Su-27s. Reports indicated F-4s successfully defeated Su-27s in air combat exercises.
Nothing stacks up well against F-22 yet.
The F-4s - never underestimate these old birds - were never meant to dog-fight other fighters but with modern electronics, radar and weapon systems they can fire missiles just as any other airplane out there. Germany's Phantoms have repeatedly beaten the shits out of French Rafales and Swedish Gripens.
Then again, just like any other plane out there they can be brought down by air defense. Good to hear the crew is alive.
How strange considering Su-27 were usually better than F-15 in dogfights(depends on pilots of course) In reality Su-27's would massacre F-4's.

I'm not ssaying impossible but hard, their tasks are different after all.
The F-4 is still a really good combat aircraft and the Israelis have done wonders with them. Kurnass 2000's and these.F-4E 2020 Terminators , Modernizated by IAI with modern radar systems ,new HUD and Avionics and new air-to ground missiles....
China and Turkey had an exercise where the F-4 held it's own.. soo, I wouldn't put the F-4's out.. Especially the Terminators
