This is why you need to buy new stuff each 6 month! Technology is in continuous evolution

Ports aren't though, just like a lot of the non apple smartphones and some of the basic ones use a micro-usb charging port. These are standard for some time now, which makes borrowing someones charger a lot easier as it's all the same.

Apple is the only one making this phone, so a major change like the port that you plugs into all the accessories is a big deal.
