I had a chance to re-enlist for a slot at SHAPE, in belgium. I decided to stay where I was, for several reasons but mostly for this girl. We're getting married next year (and i don't have 17 illegitimate european children and STDs - which was almost guaranteed to happen given my poor impulse control and rakish good looks) so I think i made the right decision.

I presume that if he was in CONUS he could be arrested and court martialled. I take it that's not an option in Sweden?

It wasn't during wartime right? I say just let him be in Sweden. He hasn't seen his family for almost 30 years and he'll never be able to come back to the US. That seems like punishment enough.
