Angry Croatian deputy PM guilty for fatal car crash, walks

    http://daily.tportal.hr/201807/Cacic...probation.html

First Vice President of the Government, as he insists on being addressed, Radimir Čačić has been found guilty for causing a fatal car crash in Hungary in January 2010, killing two Hungarian citizens when he rammed his Chrysler into a Škoda Fabia travelling in front of him.

He was given only 22 months suspended, but far more worrying is that he will keep his position in the Government as deputy PM and minister of economy, despite saying earlier he will step down if he is found guilty. Prime minister Zoran Milanović is backing him up.

By comparison, a very good minister of Enviroment resigned a few weeks ago because she sent an email trying to save her party colleague's wife from getting sacked.

Politicians are the same all over the world.
A german state governor killed a slovakian woman while skiing and very nearly got away with it.
He had to resign eventually though

I'm afraid we'll be buying Hungarian MiG-29s very soon. Čačić has been pushing hard for them, despite him having no military knowledge and the offer having no offset, and its pretty clear why.

Just saw that he threatened to sue anyone who calls him guilty in public because he was "responsible" for the crash, not guilty. Screw what the court says, right? The Government will loose a lot of support over this, the guy is insufferably arrogant in his public appereances.

Easy there. It's not good that he gets to keep his seat in the government but the sentence that was given to him is thoroughly average for European terms.
