Post New Trend: Gyms Banning Slim Clients To Foster Comfort For Overweight Patrons

I wonder how this will pan out....people interested in fitness are more likely to continue going to the gyms, thus generate revenue for these companies.
Maybe it will encourage their clients? I don't know...but if I'm at a gym, I'd like to see people in kick-ass shape who will motivate me to work harder.
No one goes to the gym at my condo, but it's free - can't complain.

    FOSTER CITY, Calif. (CBS Sacramento)
    – A new fitness trend appears to be sweeping the nation – one that expressly excludes those on the more slender side of the scale.
Multiple reports have surfaced recently about gyms that cater exclusively to zaftig clients looking to lose weight in a place free of potential judgment from other, smaller patrons.Though some all-inclusive gyms have attempted in the past to create a safe haven for anyone interested in exercising – for example, Planet Fitness, a national chain of gyms with a “judgment-free” motto and mentality – some creators of obese-only gyms feel it’s not enough.....

That's awesome, can they make gyms that don't allow fatties too, so I won't have to see their plumb sweaty lard-asses?

For me gyms are for building muscle.
To lose weight just use a bike?

American society is turning into a bunch of pansies. You go to the gym to better your health and body, not to worry about what others think of you. You talk to a friend or two to keep you motivated, great. Banning slim people is in-directly calling the over weight person 'weak minded" and its more of an insult than a gesture. What is next, designating a particular section in the gym just for people that are more in shape?

The more muscle you have the more calories you burn while at rest.

Yep. Plus I'd think the humiliation would be a kick in the ass to motivate ones self. (On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if the screamers had their own, sound-isolated section, so they could hurl too-heavy weights around with $hitty form to their hearts content. But then you'd lose the entertainment value. Ah well.)

And this also begs the question that the weights of the employee's at these gyms, are they considered as well? Do you have to be 'over weight' to have a job? Do the personal trainers have to be over weight as well? Of-course everybody is an individual and some may get jealous, but this only preludes to working harder for your goals.

Sound isolated section lol. Most people have ****ty form, especially with the major compound exercises (Im not a form master either), but I stray away from the compound exercises which hurt your joints and posture in the future. But some of these guys you can learn from, and free advice from meat heads is much better than the "band of brothers" motif these new gyms want to incorporate.

Who would be judgmental toward a fat person who's gotten off their ass and tries to change?

I think whoever thought of this idea has a point; I have an obese friend who refuses to go to the gym with me because she doesn't want to "stare at fit bimbos". Maybe a gym meant for bigger people will give you some sort of group mentality, going to a place where there are people like you etc. Good point. Once more confidence is gained and weight lost you won't care about the judgmental fit bimbos anymore.

Maybe our definition of "meat heads" differs. I don't think there's anything to be learned from those dumb asses looking for a serious back injury unless it's lessons in what NOT to do. And to be clear, I'm not talking about someone grunting under the weight of a 600lb regulation squat. I'm talking about the cantaloupe smugglers heaving the weight on the barbell curls like they can't decide if they're curling or cleaning that thing, or people throwing their asses off the bench trying to press ten more pounds (bounce the bar off their chest, bounce at the bottom of a squat trying to blow out a knee, etc.) . I'm sure you've seen the type.

So people go to gym to look at other people? Okaay. I go to gym not to show off or stare at others but to accomplish goals i set before myself. But okay again.

Others should just bow down before the might of their willpower. And get them some coffee and dougnuts.
