If it were "fine" there they wouldn't have the problems they're having securing the border. Obviously, all is not fine.

It's not the BP, they're hamstrung by the people giving them orders.

An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it. - Jeff Cooper

Apparently that's now an acceptable response to a threat, run away. Thank God Bill Jordan isn't alive to see this. It would kill him.

    United States Border Guard.

Basically the same thing as the Coast Guard, but on land. Same Title 14,18, and 19 USC powers.

The problem is that if they shoot a you from Mexico you can't just fire back. The entire border would cost WAY too much for the US. Rather than pouring money into our side we should help Mexico clean up their force and hold up their end of the bargain in the border problem. US can't handle it alone.

No but not telling US LEO's to run away from illegal drug lords would also be a good start.

Considering the source - Fox News - don't you think there may be some of that old-fashioned 'Southron' hyperbole at work?

This story originates in the current difficulties of the HSA and border security getting caught 'accidentally helping' to smuggle a couple of thousand high power military weapons into Mexico. This after a border guard was gunned down in a muffed desert 'operation' last year?

Like, if you're being investigated for incompetence, it's good to be able to blame the boss.

Great. Take everything LE has developed in regards to active shooter situations since columbine and toss it out the window. Good thinking.

i can honestly say the problem with DHS isnt the field workers... its the lawyers and politically appointed personnel in washington that are essentally hell-bent on neutering us that are making homeland security a joke.

I think that some administrator initially decided that this program was for ALL DHS employees, failing to realize or consider the fact that there are 21K armed Border Patrol Agents and thousands more armed ICE agents on the payroll. Then, the LE guys were basically like "Hey, this is stupid! WTF?" At that point, management probably did realize that it was stupid, but they got all defensive instead of saying "Oops, we did actually mean for this only to apply to non LE employees."

Seems like it is getting harder and harder for someone to say, "Opps" when a mistake was made.
