    Chimps maul American research student

    Posted June 30, 2012 15:13:25

An American research student is in a critical condition in a South African hospital after he was dragged by chimpanzees into an enclosure at a primate sanctuary and attacked.
The mauled body of the student, identified in local media as Andrew Oberle, was retrieved from the enclosure by paramedics under armed guard at the Jane Goodall Institute Chimp Eden near the eastern town of Nelspruit.
"When we found him, he was in a foetal position underneath a lapa (a roofed, open-walled structure) with massive injuries, lacerations, abrasions, partial amputation from his head to toe," said Lloyd Krause, spokesman for the ER24 emergency service.

"He lost an ear, he lost a number of fingers and toes, he's got very deep wounds, he's got total removal of skin and muscle off his one leg and his one arm, fractures all over the place."
    Ouch, that's a beating and a half.

Chimps can be damn nasty if they really come down to it.

I guess this is a trait that all primates have and they seem to revel in cruelty.

This is why I have no wish to work with primates. I would rather handle a seasnake with my bare hands before getting within 10 meters of a chimp.
    Hope he recovers.

In terms of nonhuman hominids, it is actually mostly chimps (their repertoire has wonderful things such as mob beatings and infanticidal cannibalism for the seeming evulz). Gorillas, while aggressive and territorial, don't have that wonton and pointless cruel streak (though will occasionally practice infanticide in desperate situations), orangtans are simply aloof, and bonobos are too busy getting laid to be cruel.

Yeah, they'll go for your face first and your hands from attempted blocks. Then the genitals second, eating them through your ass as you are balled up trying to protect yourself.

    I don't trust nature.

    don't do it.

I also think chimps are evil - ever since I heard about that lady that got her face eaten by a chimp.

That was the moment i made mental note to myself "never approach a chimp".
Few years back i saw a documentary about a photographer being tossed around by an orangutang who was just "playing".
He was scared to life when he could not free himself for 5+ terrifying minutes and realized the sheer power of the creature, scary video.

Foolish chimps! Do they not know what they are dealing with?! The primate species, Homo sapiens, is capable of horrific brutality, the likes of which those naive chimps can scarcely imagine!

Good news for those who are afraid of monkeys.

I don't want to sound like a partypooper and end the discussion about evil chimps but has anyone confirmed this NOT Rage virus related?

Cause I'm still sitting at DEFCON 2 after the crazy face eating people and the homo cannibal.

Possible zombie/rage virus activity is no joke.

Remember two in the head, make sure they're dead

Should be SOP for angry monkeys.
