More: http://www.spiegel.de/international/...-a-840858.htmlA memorial to the airmen killed flying bombing raids against Germany in World War II will be unveiled in London on Thursday. The project has been criticized in Germany, where many see the devastating attacks as criminal. But there is grudging acceptance here of Britain's desire to honor its dead.
The collateral damage of the innocent can not be avoid entirely in a war, but honouring the doers of that, I think, is a big problem.

The Men of Bomber Command died serving their country. They died fighting fascism, and those people on the ground supported Fascism and had no qualms when similar attacks were done upon Spanish, Polish, Dutch, French, Norwegian, Greek, Russian, British, Belgian, Yugoslavian, etc. towns and Cities by their forces, the forces they worked to support.
Reap the whirlwind.....
Wait for 70 years to build a memorial to those "Bomber command guys... from WWII... - you probably never heard bout them", Britain is helluva hipster.
It's in London... It'd be different if the British were trying to build a memorial for Bomber Command in Dresden, but as long as it's own their own soil, they can honor their men however they want.
At first I thought that it would be in Germany. Now that would be a provocation lol
But since its in London it's perfectly reasonable.
They still can't stop about getting a hard one about winning against germany?
HM The Queen Unveils Bomber Command Memorial - Green Park, London - June 2012
Its more like they didnt have a memorial so far, which is surprising.
No objections from me whatsoever, even if I am always ready to critisize the way the bombing campaign was conducted. But its not like the men of Bomber Command had any say in this.
I am quite sure they put their lives more at risk than any other arm of the British forces. And they fought on when the bulk of the British forces had retreated to the safety of their island. So of course they deserve recognition.
Oh really? I live in a city who was completely erased and it was never a topic. The project has been criticized in Germany
