Pilots: General Aviation Helmets

Please don't be that guy. Unless your doing highly aggressive aerobatic maneuvers, sit on a martin baker, or fly a chopper you don't need a helmet. That and its going to be more of a pain in the ass then anything.

Already gashed my head once on the belt retention spring asssembly once. Don't want to repeat that ordeal again.

If a pilot was wearing the helmet then he be laughed at......with that said moderate to severe turbulance with chops can knock you out silly (speaking from experience) if your seat belt is not tight as it can be or like you said , get tossed around like a rag doll since you don't have a six point harness. Its all fun mate

I wouldn't want to wear a helmet in Florida's humidity unless I am in an aerobat, a crop duster, or a racer.

so, with prior injury state, you still advocate against wearing a helmet because the pilot would be laughed at?

I noticed you're using DC's so have you had a look at their K10 helmet kit?:

It's cheaper then even a rebuilt military helmet, the only thing is that there's no visor so your still going to need to wear sunglasses.

how does this work with headsets? does it go over and around the helmet or under?

Headset goes under the helmet.

Literally all but 7 hours of my flight time has been in a Cessna and I've never so much as come close to hitting my head on any surface (inside of the plane)

Yeah I've never come close to hitting my head in 150's, 172's, 180-182-185's, 206's, 208's, navajo's, King Air's, Cittabria's, Albatross's. And I have flown all but one series in moderate turbulance and aerobatics. King Air''s, navajo's and 208 i havent been in aerobatics, but i have seen the heavyest turbulance in them. But im not in the back and I am not sitting in a awkward spot. Maybe if I was in the back id want protection, but I have never gotten a complaint from my medics unless they were not strapped in propperly.
