10000 free tacos. jesus, they'll all be dead from the sh!ts in a week.
Bethel, Alaska may not have a Taco Bell restaurant, but the town of 6,000 is getting the next best thing–free tacos.Taco Bell heard of the residents’ disappointment after someone who put up fake advertisements earlier this month announcing the chain was opening a location in the town, which has no fast food restaurants.
Taco Bell executives found out about the hoax and decided to treat residents to 10,000 tacos, free of charge.
The ingredients for the fiesta on Sunday will be flown in from Anchorage and include 950 pounds of beef, 300 pounds of lettuce, 150 pounds of cheese, 500 pounds of sour cream and 300 pounds of tomatoes, the Associated Press reported.
“It’ll be a big event for our community,” Mayor Joe Klejka said.

I'm pretty sure there's no highway system that connects Bethel to the rest of Alaska and the only way in and out is the airport and the Port of Bethel in the summer. Hate on Taco Bell all you want to, but that's pretty generous.
10000 free tacos. jesus, they'll all be dead from the sh!ts in a week.
Pretty happy that the town got what they wanted (even though TB tacos are faaake)
I wonder if taco bell is more food than matter or more matter than food. Because i'm sure atleast half of whats in taco bell's stuff isn't even considered food.

I don't know about it being generous - more like a win-win PR event. Their PR people proved they're in touch with recent development and have a good sense for "hearts and minds" kind of approach to marketing and image building. Good for Taco Bell and good for the people - that's how a good customer relationship should be.
I never really liked Tacos but now, all of a sudden, I'm lusting for one.
I think it is cool. I like Taco Bell from time to time.
Step right up folks, free obesity here! Would you like a 72oz Big Gulp with your 900 calorie meal?
Having been to Bethel on several occasions I can tell you that food options are VERY limited. There is a Subway, but I wouldn't eat there. Flying out to that area of the state, it is the only time I have been on a plane with people carrying 15 bags of McDonalds, 10 pizzas from Pizza Hut, 15 bags of Taco Bell and buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken.
