Default GT student robbed at gunpoint in dorm room

The student said he was awakened around 1 a.m. by noise in his room in the North Avenue Apartments East and found two unknown men tampering with his laptop.

When he asked the suspects what they were doing, one pointed a handgun at him, the student told police. The suspects stole the student's laptop and cell phone. They were last seen running through the courtyard toward North Avenue. There were no signs of forced entry into the room and no injuries reported, police said.

Both suspects were described as black men in their late teens or early 20s. One was wearing a white t-shirt and red basketball shorts. He was armed with the handgun. The second suspect had short dreadlocks, a black hat, khaki tan shorts and a black backpack.

I lived in that dorm complex when I was at Tech. To have gotten in they would have needed a buzzcard to unlock the electronic gates (which would mean they were students), or someone may have exercised poor judgment and held the door for them...either way, not a good way to wake up. Especially when the GT administration still refuses to allow Tech students to have the right to defend themselves...

Or the student sold his laptop and phone and reported it as stolen.

Right, and I guess the other 3 incidents last week were also false?

The robber has a gun? How is that even possible? Aren't college campuses in Georgia supposed be so called "gun free zones"?

Wait. I forgot that criminals disregard laws, only good citizens do.

$10 says someone held the door open for them. I often visited friends in dorms and someone held the door open for me everytime.

My bet too. I hold doors for people all the time, but I always made sure I didn't if they didn't look like they were students or parents....they actually tell new students: "We know this is the South, and you are all very polite, but don't hold doors for people to get in dorm rooms." Of course nobody really listened, maybe that'll change now (probably not...)

The problem is the gun fetishists have prevented responsible gun control advocates from taking the laws far enough. Clearly vehicles must also be gun free zones so criminals can't use their motor vehicles to get to and from the scene of their crime.

    Hahaha.....

If you want to feel safe in ATL, there is only one place to stay. A bar called Blakes, its filled with big dudes. Most of them are pretty built. You would think the women would also flock there but oddly not to many in there. All though some of the women in there kinda have deep voices.... odd.
