I strongly believe this game deserves its own thread.

Hope they downgrade the chariots, I became sick of find half the known world over run by Britons and Egyptians.....Cept when I was playing as the Britons or Egyptians.

How new is the engine for Shogun 2? Is it safe to assume that they won't build something new for Rome 2 so it will pretty much have the same system requirements as S2:TW? Great news none the less, I just hope there will be a good diversity of factions and units just like Rome had.

I hope they will use the Total Realism mod as an inspiration.

Would be poor funplay wise. You need a strategic game; If you end up with a subtactical game (like R:TW) you'll have just to put a machine gun nest in the middle of a trench line and wait to slaughter hundred of charging opponents
A colonial era (1880-1905) would be more suited : less fancy stuff but still existing, exotic armies (Japan, Dahomey, Boers, Mahdi's army, Spain in Cuba and Philippines, etc) and pimped uniforms

I hoping it would set in the later empire (to about the 6th century AD). Unfortunately that does not seem the case.
