I stopped playing the Total War series after about MTW2. If they did it right (option for less arcade gameplay, bigger campaign map like the old days) I'd come back to the series for this game.
one of my fav games. I hope they gonna fix sieges and other annoying stuff. I hated Shogun 2, because the battles were too short

I'm still playing Rome I! Great game. Kinda wished they'd done somewhere a bit different though, maybe Ancient China or even perhaps the 15-1600s.
Indeed. Khan Total War would be one of my little wishes (if you include the entire depth/length of that dynasty, that's some serious scale and variety straigh off the bat). I guess the problem is finding an era with enough scale, variety and interest to base a game around, you are sort of limited to a few set periods, to an extent (in so much that empire is about as modern as you can go, because I don't think the series was ever at its best with firearms)
My gripe with Empire/Napoleon is that the star forts were pretty dam lame combat wise and had no semblance of reality.
I think I ended up ignoring/auto resolving all sieges in Empire, or waiting till they broke out to attack my force, at which point I just hunkered up on high ground and let rip with mortars and canister rounds - they had nothing on Rome siges (as much as I hated the sapper 'siege weapon'...). Seems they threw most of the effort into the naval battles (which is understanable as they were the 'gimic' for that encarnation) - which again I ignored once the fleets reached a certain size (just couldn't for the life of me get my head around/have enough patience to micro manage the inevitable cluster**** surrounding ships of the line)
I wish they made Ancient China against The Nomads: hunnu, tabgach, sianbi, tibet etc.. That would be epic.
Citadelle Lille is a pretty intense network.
I agree. The later games have never been "bad," not quite living up to hype/expectations but they're still not what you'd call bad games.
