Default Breaking news : MOD confirm 2 RAF aircraft crashed in Moray Firth

just seen this flash across the Sky News twitter feed and BBC news are reporting this....

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...32#TWEET168116

The RAF is co-ordinating a search and rescue after reports of two RAF Tornado jets crashing in the Moray Firth. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the Tornado GR4s were from RAF Lossiemouth, on the Moray coast.
RAF Lossiemouth, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and RNLI have been alerted to the incident.
Buckie and Wick lifeboats have been launched and an RAF helicopter has been involved in the search for the aircraft and crew.
The MoD said: "The RAF are aware of an incident involving two Tornado GR4 aircraft from RAF Lossiemouth in the Moray Firth.
"The incident is being investigated and more information will be provided when available."
    Hope the pilots are okay....

EDIT - Reportedly there's thick fog in the area, which is also an oil field

The BBC is reporting that two people (one pilot, one navigator) were picked up by the RNLI and taken to hospital. Hope they're both ok and that the other crew is found shortly.

Bad news - search has been halted until tomorrow.

The search for two missing crew stopped for the night at 10:45 BST due to bad weather, and will resume on Wednesday.

An MoD spokesman said: "The intention is to go back up tomorrow when the weather clears."

There was a report by the Metro last night, regarding one of the recovered crew. After seeing nothing else regarding that this morning, hopefully it was just them trying to make a story with no real information....

Some of the other sites were watching the search via some of the AIS sites, but after the news of the search being called off, i don't dare look...

    As nighthawk said, Fingers Crossed!!!!!

Heard on Radio 2 not long ago, that the search and rescue operation for the two missing aircrew has been called off, and it is now proceeding as a "recovery operation"
