GGK, I doubt he was a Muslim. Sort of like the Ba'athist Saddam "became" a Muslim when he lost the support of the Soviets. IMHO, he used the religion much like other people who have used religion to control people and cover their actions. During the Cold War it was advantageous to be socialist revolutionary. To be honest, I really don't see what the Israelis would have to gain by Arafat's premature death. He was in incompetent, corrupt leader, mostly interested in consolidating his own power. His worst victims were his own people.
It is known that the Israelis had several opportunities to assassinate Arafat, and declined, instead going after more competent Fatah leaders like Abu Jihad (in Tunis).
No matter what truth emerges, there will always be those who believe the juice are behind everyone's "suspicious" death.
