Sounds like a douchebag.
Pretty sure you guys have heard that Rep Joe Walsh has been running his cockholster again. This time in reference to his opponent Tammy Duckworth, a double amputee combat vet, using her military service "too much" in his opinion. Personally I think this joker is a loudmouth idiot, along the lines of Alan Grayson. Short on substance and long on stupidity. But I'm not a combat vet. If I was I'd probably feel more strongly about it but YMMV. Thoughts?

Well Duckworth used her injuries through her 2006 campaign for congress as a qualifier, but it doesnt seem to be that way this time from what I see and her platform is better than her 2006 blame Bush campaign. But she refuses to look at cuts in entitlements while say she will cut Defense, and as per SOP tax the rich more to be fair to those who pay no taxes.
Her time in the DVA was Meh. She told a Vet crippled in Stateside training * and During the Time claims were skyrocketing and GI Bill was ****ed like a football bat she went back to School instead of her job. http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,212285,00.html
Frankly If military service was the mark of excellence in government- US Grant should have had the best presidency ever. Some of our best combat solders have made our worst Politicians.
after reading Walshs Bio he doesnt seem like a winner either. I'd say either way the people of the 8th District are Fcuked...

One of the veterans at the session, Jason Wheeler, 39, of Champaign, was injured eight years ago in training at Fort Polk, La. In a wheelchair, he still suffers from a nerve condition that makes it feels as if his hands and legs “are on fire,” he said.
“There’s not the same help for the guys who were injured stateside,” Wheeler said.
“This unfortunately is the result of dollars. It’s money,” Duckworth said. “I think that we as a nation would want to take care of all of our veterans. But it means that we’re going to have be willing to get the folks in Washington to spend the dollars on all of our veterans. And as long as there aren’t enough dollars, then they are force to prioritize veterans.
“And combat-connected, disabled veterans are the highest priority. That is why when you and I go to the VA they will take care of me first because I am combat-connected,” noted Duckworth, who lost both of her legs when the helicopter she was co-piloting in Iraq in 2004 was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.
“The difference is how did you get hurt. Unfortunately that’s just the way that … it’s a bureaucracy that was put into place in previous administrations in order to prioritize veterans because they didn’t spend enough to take care of everyone,” Duckworth told Wheeler.
Except she was wrong, there is no prioritizing at the VA by geographical location of Injuries and her job was to know such things.
Well since this comes from ABC news my BS alarm went off. In reading the article and watching the video link Walsh states that almost all the vets he has met don't talk about that much about their service. He refers to McCain in the video link in how his advisors wanted him to bring it up he wouldn't. Now if Duckworth is out there in her uniform while campaigning and all she's saying is vote for me because I'm a combat vet wounded in the line of duty then he has a point.
I don't talk much about my time in the US Air Force. I was a REMF. The combat vets I have met don't say much about their combat and I don't press. When I come across guys who brag about being an Airborne, Ranger, Green Beret, Delta, fluffy bunny trained ninja then my BS alarm goes off because I have met Spec Ops guys since I was stationed at Pope AFB/Ft Bragg and they are some low keyed guys. Which is what I would expect.
ABC is just the link I picked, there's about 400 other reports of the guy acting like a douche. JMO.
I don't think you need to be a combat vet to have an opinion on this. My own of Rep. Walsh is not flattering. You get your legs blown off in service for your country? Then you have all the right to bring it up whenever you see fit. Besides, her website is quite expansive and filled to the brim with programmatic points and clear declarations of intent and all that... so if even I as a foreigner can tell what Tammy Duckworth stands for, how could the people of Illinois not.
“We are about four months from Election Day and the people of Illinois have no idea where Tammy Duckworth stands on these issues,” he said.
Here's my take. If a veteran wants to run for public office, but doesn't have anything to bring to the table other than his/her military experience, voters should be able to discern what little substance they have. Being a war hero does not necessarily mean they'll be a good public servant.
At the same time, it's in poor taste for a non-veteran like Rep. Walsh to belittle the military service and accomplishments of his rival.
Too bad the voters don't seem to have much of a choice in the election. As usual.
The only JOE WALSH I want to hear from

It's funny the rage from the Democrats on this. Walsh is a douche for his comments, no doubt about it....
but in 2008 the Democrats applauded Wes Clarke saying McCains Mil service was no qualifier for President and he downplayed McCains real heroism as nothing more than being a bad pilot.
Cue 2012 some schmuck says stupidity about a Dem Vet and its heresy and burn that man at the stake.
I thought Wes Clarke was a **** too.
^ Agree, CJ. I remember when Gen. Clark was asked about his views regarding the 2nd Amendment, and he responded by saying that if people want to shoot military weapons, they can join the Army.
