Wow that is a devlopment if its true. I assume its going to be a long time till they are purchased? I would assume almost all of the Libyan military infastrusture will have to be rebuilt?
Not sure what to make of this...
Libyan Air force to be re-equipped with Rafale and Typhoon multi-role fighters. And some U.S. planes too.
http://theaviationist.com/2012/07/04/lybia-af-future/Quoting the Libyan Air Force Chief of Staff Saqr Geroushi a recent article by the Libyan Herald reported that proposals have been drawn up to re-equip Tripoli’s dilapidated fleet with a special consideration given to those countries that assisted Libya during the last year’s air war: France, UK, and the U.S.

Libya’s dilapidated air force is set to be substantially enhanced under plans announced by the air force chief of staff, Saqr Geroushi.
...
Geroushi said that the plan required the distribution of the new aircraft across Libya, stipulating the intention to base the Eurofighters at Tobruk and Benina airbase in Benghazi, with the French fighters being based at Gordabaya and Wattya military airbases to cover the entire Libyan south. The military airbases at Jufrah, Sebha and Kufra will also be used, it was announced.

That's exactly how you lose customers !
Typhoon and Rafale ?
I guess the Libian's missed this thread : http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...d.php?t=214566 :P
Both aircraft are very similar, it doesnt make any sense to buy both.
Why don't they buy the su-35 , an undeniably better fighter . If i am right the initial deal with their former leader was to buy su-35s . But i guess since the French,British and Americans helped at the so called liberation of Libya , they must by something from them in return ?
Is this truly wise? (Assuming its true)
There are quite a number of shady characters in the NTC and NLA, not to mention post-war Libya has some instability issues.
