Default Building a Medieval Castle, in Austria this time

Entirely in keeping with medieval construction methods, a castle is being erected in the Austrian town of Friesach. The project, which is scheduled to last 30 years, is being accompanied by a number of historians. On July 5th, the corner stone for the visitors' centre will be laid.
    Rest of the story here.

There's a similar project going in France as well. Would be great to take part in this kind of thing.

In Germany, as we always have to be peaceful these days, we build a monastery.
Actually, a city-monastery but still not as cool as a castle.

Or just do like they do in Spain and build a cathedral by yourself...

Actually its more cool then a castle. We got castles here everywhere. But whole city full of middle ages fanatics is way more impressive. I watched a tv program about this project, was interesting.

The difference is that in Guedelon, Messkirch and Friesach, they're aiming to replicate both the construction process and the work methods of the middle ages.
Hence the ultra long construction times (30-40 years)

    Btw, trivia question:
What is the main difference between German style and Anglo-French style castles?

Real castle with fortifications and towers or just a stone manor?
