So far it has mainly been harassing gunfire from the other side of the river aimed at Border Patrol agents. I hope it does not get any worse than that.

I think two BP agents were ambushed with AK's from Fast and Furious scandal. I believe they were Zetas.

If it's in the tens of thousands of dollars that they might lose, they may start firing, they have nothing to lose because if they lose a shipment and don't have the funds to pay it off, then they will likely end up on a beheading video when they return home. How do you say "balancing the books" over there? A slang term.

States like Texas and Arizona are some of the last true states (and not arms of the feds) left in this once great country. When they fail its all over.

They loose loads all the time. As I said, they're not stupid. They watch the news, and know exactly what the US is capable of if you really piss us off (Noriega, Hussain, OBL, even Pablo got his). If they start go to far, they know we'd act unilaterally and start striking at them, rolling their network up, and working our way up the chain until we got to the top.

So I'd really like to hear how you define what "true state" is.

Operates under the 1oth Amendment like it actually matters, has its own identity, you can decide to live there based on its rule of law and culture being different than other states, etc. This country is turning into one block with different federal districts. You can choose where you live based on weather now, and that's about it. We're on track to be a European state. It's about freedom, and its increasing scarcity....

I've lived in four states, and spent a good little amount of time in about a dozen. While there are some similarities, they're all quite different, and have their own unique culture. Then we start getting into things like state codes governing everything from taxes, to property rights, firearms laws, etc. They very GREATLY from state to state.

The cartels will probably put a bounty on those boats. So they will become big floating targets.

And that is changing very quickly. The federal government increasingly has the power to force states in line. It's not a good thing in most respects. The power to govern is supposed to go from bottom to top, not top to bottom. There is a very disturbing trend in the last ten years on what happens to states that "step out of line", like AZ. It's a very slippery slope.

The cartels brought the drug war to center of attention by hanging civilians, going after police, etc, etc....Their view is that threat and intimidation will be successful in ending the war against them.

Yes your right they did...yes they hanged civilians but believe me the majority of them were not law abide citizens; some were Hawks, drug dealers and rivals...as for the police..a large number of police departments were on the payroll of cartels..wether be Zetas; Cartel de Sinaloa..Golfo..etc..
