They seem to have the dubious honour of showing up and using the time at Red Flag to sniff at all the electronics and such without really taking part.

Everybody will be holding cards back. There'll be surprises none the less......It will be interesting to see how they run the show with everybody having their systems shut off.
Indeed, this might be a good opportunity for them to renew worldwide confidence in competetiveness of MiG-29 design with 4 to 4++ fighters. I doubt tho they will bring anything that's not operational (i.e. MiG-35).

I am not sure why people put so much trust in red flag exercises that are entirely scripted and based on horrendously bad 'assumptions' about what the enemy can and can not do.

In long-range encounters, with its superior radar the Su-27 can launch a missile before the F-15C does, so from a purely kinematic standpoint, the Russian fighters outperform the F-15C in the beyond-visual-range fight. The Su-35 phased array radar is superior to the APG-63 Doppler radar in both detection range and tracking capabilities.
