Regardless of her serving in the Soviet Military in WW2, (which I believe did not entail one having a choice,) I hope she had a long happy life, married well and had a large family, hopefully, she is alive and well and surrounded by a host of grand kids.

If she has left this earthly plain may she +Rest In Peace +

Apart from that what is the point of this thread?

The point I was trying to make is she had no choice in serving, she is also not the iconic stereotypical representation of the "ze evil soviets" and if anything the original poster (who appears to be trolling) should have posted this in MP.net section for Pictures of women in the military.

1.In Imperial/Soviet/Russian army woman are not liable for mil service. in red army (WW2) woman were volunteers, or recruited if, during peace time they have profession, which could be used in army during the war. Here, seems, she was traffic controller in peace time, and was recruited to rear services.
    2. for russians she is iconic, because it is very well known footage, used in a lot of movies, or documentary sets of war.
