Arrow The Hill Poll: Majority of voters believe Obama has changed country for worse

    http://thehill.com/polls/236627-hill...ntry-for-worse

Two-thirds of likely voters say President Obama has kept his 2008 campaign promise to change America — but it’s changed for the worse, according to a sizable majority.

A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.

if i think back to before 2008 and try to list the things that have gotten worse for me, they would be:

    1. Gasoline FEELs more expensive than in 2008 (not sure if this is correct or not)
    2. The dress shirts that i always buy have increased by 50 percent. 40 dollars to 60 dollars.
    3. Soda has gotten alot more expensive. I believe the vending machine had it in our office at 1.25. now its at 1.75.
    4. My financial portfolio took a dive in 2008-2009. Luckily i sold before it hit rock bottom and recovered quite well.
    5. I have to take my shoes off at the airport inspection.
    6. My auto insurance keeps going up every single year even though ive been accident free for YEARS (im in northern new jersey btw)
    7. With the wars winding down, my job has less money for training/travel.
    8. This one i believe is entirely on Obama: Interest rates at my savings account was at 4 percent 4 years ago? now its down to .75 percent. Imagine having that high savings rate today? Though still not as great if you were to make conservative investments like buying the S&P 500 index fund.
    9. Air travel FEELS (not sure about this one) more expensive than before. This may be due to all of those mergers and acquisitions by the airlines.
    10. The perception that the banks are up to major major shenanigans feels alot stronger than it was before 2007.

Thats all i could list for now. It'd be interesting for others to post how different 2008 was compared to 2012.

    For some background.

It seem that Obama has lost control over what he promised and what he's doing.

from a foreign perspective - my view of the US has changed negatively since 08 mainly due to Barry's foreign policy. I feel that the US policies no longer portray the US as having a position of strength.

When it comes to the economy...hell yeah its worse. I've seen too many strip malls and shopping centers around here empty out. I've watched prices rise on food and most goods. Hell I've seen the price of toothbrushes go from a dollar to around 2.50 for a cheap one and most of your aerospaced engineered brand names are around 5 dollars average. Five bucks for a toothbrush??!!I can get a Mickey D's Happy Meal cheaper than that. Razorblades are just out of hand. The're under lock and key now because they are so expensive that theft of them is high.

The press conference that Obama and Putin had in their last meeting pretty much sums up foreign policy. Putin had the look of absolute contempt and wouldn't even look at Obama. Obama looked so pissed like how dare Putin treat me like this.

I don't doubt the validity of this poll... with that being said people always think matters get worse.

We spent less on the Iraq war from 2003-2008 then we spent on Federal level for education during the same timeframe.

    Iraq War US$ 554B
    Education US$ 574B

Education is an investment though. You spend 574 billion hoping that some of the brats force fed through the system amount to something other than ditch diggers in life, become doctors or scientist and continue to better the country. That 554 billion put into Iraq is gone. forever.

Iraq was an investment as well. Or do you think they just sat around one day and said, "hey, how could we spend money, kill a lot of people, and have some fun? I know, let's start a war."

More US influence in the Gulf, and one less destabilizing factor. I thought that was obvious.
