I read about this too... but actually the car never belonged to Hitler.
It's just a middle class MB 320, nothing Hitler would have used.
But the Wehrmacht bought 8 of these for various generals, one of those was destroyed in the assassination attempt on Heydrich.
Though it is not clear to which general this one belonged
