Max slug range with that thing is only 100-140 meters, still not much.

My though is that they might be using the L128 for launching 12ga signal cartridges (flares) as a deterrent... or just that they needed something gucci-looking looking to mount the GLOW on

In case you're still wondering, the shotguns are carried to guard a landed chopper.

They could make truckloads of money if they got their shit together and created a save environment for tourists again, like things used to be back in the 1960s.

Too true. I know people who went trekking there before it became such a mess. The security guard at my old office (who was granted asylum here) used to work in the tourist industry when he was young.
An Afghan tourist industry? Unthinkable now.

There are multiple applications for a 12ga in platform shooting, Less-Lethal munition employment to vehicle interdiction to name a couple. Just by the nature of some "Lethal" 12ga muntion natures means they have limited over penetration or ricochet hazards, something that "maybe" of use to have supporting such an activity

Believe it or not I came across tourists on my tour there. Bamyian Province is predominately Hazaran and therefore mostly anti Taliban. With whats left of the Buddahs, Bandimea Lakes and the history the local area has, Local government has a department of tourism that actually turns a profit. I met Aussies, Canadians, Brits among others doing the tourist thing. Some had toured the sth of the country as well. What ever floats your boat I suppose if your prepared for the risk
