A TEENAGER was left in agony in hospital after an addiction to Coca-Cola led her to drink 18 PINTS of it every day.

Pretty Zoe Cross, 18, caught an infection made worse by severe dehydration caused by guzzling so much of the fizzy drink.

And she was warned she could DIE unless she cut down her massive intake.

Zoe said: “I admit I’m addicted to Coke — not the drug, the drink.

“I ended up on a saline drip for five days.

"The doctors said my body couldn’t cope with such a huge amount of sugar and caffeine and warned me my kidneys could shut down if I didn’t stop.”

There was a guy in my unit once that drank so much his esophagus tore open. I asked the guy something one day and when he went to answer me he spit a big wad of blood out of his mouth. He had no idea what happened and just looked at me dumbfounded. I was really surprised to find out after we rushed him to the aid station that it was from drinking too much soda. I stay away from the stuff myself.

There was more to it, wasn't it? I mean Coke is not particularly healthy but you don't acquire a ruptured esophagus by drinking too much of it.

There could have been more to it but My understanding was that he had done it for so long that the acid in it eventually ate it away, nothing more. The guy had a 1.5 litre cup that he filled several times a day. I'm sure smoking a couple packs a day didn't help either. There is a version that you can get that is made with sugar cane rather than corn syrup. I think that's what he is referring to. It does taste better...

I would opt for the return of Crystal Clear Pepsi, over Coke. Required taste. Although the old Coke glass bottles made for a good bottle-rocket launcher
