    Default G4S Farce .......

Question aimed at the fellow UK crew ...

Do you agree that the 300million fee [ That's the fee being thrown about by the media ] is vastly over priced and Goverment being the idiots they are are dumb enough to pay that Price are being ripped off by a PSC ,, that made false promises and have failed to deliver from day one that company knew fine well they simply couldn't deliver .. for a shower of people that ain't trained in the use of small arms if the need arises .. , Why is the Goverment resorting to using PSC for security when the people who are doing the job aren't all that savvy never mind clued up therefore the Goverment should by rights tear up the contract to pay the PSC for failing to live up to there agreement .

In my place where there was an argument with Olympic officials and G4S honcho's for having to re locate 30 MMSP down to London [ LOL ] .. and also so called searches when entering our premises by those G4S numpties .. well let's just ...LAUGHABLE !!!.

Also for those that run that outfit having the gaul to say they never knew about the shortfall .. is just utter FBS . truth is they bit of more than they could chew and nae fuker was interested in taking on short term work .. then only to be laid off at the end of it ...

Actually it's not all that unusual for a company to bid on a contract, then have to go out and try to hire security personnel. I remember getting stuck in Texas for two weeks because my employer didn't have anyone qualified to fly out and relieve me (as the guy that normally rotated out went to work for MPRI). Or the company that took over the contract, not having a SINGLE person hired before they won the contract, and having them scramble to hire all of the guys that were already working the security detail, as well as offering active military personnel positions once they left active duty.

What Dom said, besides it says in the article that the G4S was predicted to make a loss at the whole thing AND had agreed to pay for 3500 troops to fill the gaps.

Recruiting, training, equipping and running the logistics and salary for 14000 security guards + the support staff isn't cheap.

This is NOT the first time G4S pulled something like this.

    http://www.stripes.com/mobile/news/g...slots-1.163646

G4S won the contract for providing security at the gates (civilian guards manning gates etc) of USFK installations in S Korea. They took the contract away from a local firm (by bidding lower) and also took over employment of the security guards. G4S apparently thought they could still make $ while undercutting the previous firm by demanding the guards give up pay/benefits they had from the previous employer.

The guards didn't like it and went on a strike, which resulted in G4S not having the man power to provide the service they were being paid for. For weeks (not sure if it's been resolved) US GI's have been manning the security gates, while G4S is being paid for the contract.

There was plenty of time to recruit, clear and train the recommended number of staff and the simple fact that there was no direct contact with the retired police officers group just indicates a lack of collective logic within G4S.

On a side note, in Norway G4S has the responsibility for airport security at certain airports in the country, including Gardermoen - the main airport serving the capitol. As i do a fair bit of travelling both on and off work i've come to the conclusion that the airport security guards in Norway, in general, have no effing clue when it comes to CIED, explosives, ammunition and what to look for/how to search for this - something i know a thing or two about through my current job. They're hiring long-haired male emos "who needs an ok paid summer job" to stand at the passenger security- and carry-on stalls FFS...

Anyhow, I remember a while back sending G4S in Norway a general enquiry about starting work with them as a fulltime instructor for the the mandatory airport-security course everyone needs to go through before they're let loose on the ground. It took about a month before i got some canned and generic response about how "Thank you for your enquiry, but we only hire instructors from among those who have already worked at the security screening". I was tempted to reply to them with a "Yes I can clearly see that...". Just recycling inbred shyt i guess...

Not to mention that the guys they actually did hire look like the perfect choice for preventing islamist terror attacks:
