Wonder if PMSNBC's rants were starting to effect MS's bottom line.

So far I have never seen a link between MS earnings and MSNBC content, the whole thing looks more like a realignment after both parties getting the max out of the relationship. Anyways big boss Steve Burke is a nice conservative gentleman that knows how to pull the threads.

Rachel Madcow scares me, I can imagine her eating babies. BTW, is she the dude in her relationship?

We don't get MSNBC down here in OZ because Murdoch does not allow it.Only his crap FOX news which provides good fodder for the Daily show which cracks me up.

Afaik NBC wants to streamline its company meaning either take over the companies they hold shares in - or if they can not assume control of them get rid of them.
At the same time MS wants to open its own news portal - one reason being that with MSNBC they only could use news from that source and not publish news from other sources as well which they want to do though with their future portal.

Considering their ratings, I hope you were shorting them.

No they were a good play, in Oct 11 and out last month, for a company much derided on ratings and content Comcast and it's many children NBC being one of them has been rewarding.
