May be a stupid question but did they have racially segregated units back in the 40's and 50's?

President Truman signed an executive order to integrate the U.S. Military in 1948.

It will be interesting to watch the tone of recruiting change as peace breaks out.

When I enlisted, I wanted to fight the dragons and climb a cliff.

I climbed some cliffs, but I never fought that dragon.

no question is stupid my friend, if you LEARN something from the answer. Since your query has already been answered...this is just sage advice.

This is true. However, the world can not go on forever with a huge expanding population, and limited food. Wars and disease will always be with us to keep us from being shoulder to shoulder.

Not too long before enlisting, my brother and I were watching TV and the Gauntlet ad came on. After he looked at me and asked what if they actually make you fight a Balrog with a sword before you can graduate.
My personal favorite is the lightning chess commercial.

Balrogs are easy. Just shout "You shall not pass!" and open up with your M-16. I've never seen it fail, and have in fact sent many Balrogs to the fiery depths myself using just this technique.

Just sty away from their whip.

Can anybody help? I can't even recall what commercial they were using when I enlisted in '98... Might've still been the dragon, lol.

This is my favorite t.v. spot they've ever done.
