    Why was that bird there to begin with? looks like the back end was blown up or crashed during landing.

    Maybe special operations or supply chopper crashed, it was stripped, and was about to to be lifted to a base? Don't really know. But it was crazy how it started swinging.

    To clear up some confusion, this looks to be a downed aircraft recovery, or DART, of a CH-47 that was forced to make an emergency landing for some reason (hit, mechanical failure, etc.). The only way it can be airlifted back to base is if it's stripped down by army personnel beforehand. Otherwise it's simply too heavy, even for a Super Stallion.

    Thanks for the info. Its quite impressive to see a Super Stallion sling loading a CH-47.
