Default Chick-fil-A president says company opposes gay marriage

Chick-fil-A has taken a stand against gay marriage, and the reactions are rolling in.

Company president Dan Cathy told a Baptist website the Atlanta-based restaurant chain is "guilty as charged" in its support of traditional marriage.

"We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit," Cathy said in article published Monday by the Baptist Press. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."

Chick-fil-A has been under fire from gay rights groups since early 2011, when it was revealed that an independent operator in Pennsylvania supplied food to an event sponsored by a group formed to defeat same-*** marriage initiatives.

One longtime observer said he was not surprised by the comments by Cathy, son of the restaurant's founder Truett Cathy.

"It could be that they've determined that they already have this identity, so let's just own it," said Lake Lambert, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Mercer University and author of "Spirituality Inc. — Religion in the American Workplace." "But I think it could present challenges to them as they expand outside of the South."

This is stupid. Chick-fil-A is awesome, I don't care what their stance is on gay marriage.

What's next, McDonalds saying they're pro gay marriage? GoldmanSachs joining the global warming believers? AT&T's CEOs lobbying against abortion in the name of their umpteen-thousand employees?
This is nuts, why would a restaurant chain care about that. And how can a president commit the whole company to such a non-business related non-issue?

Meh. I'm hungy for fast food now.

I have no idea why they care about it, but companies can do that sort of thing at their own risk. In-N-Out is really Christian friendly and puts the notations to bible verses on their fast food wrappers and cups, and it doesn't seem to be a problem with non-Christian's.

Not sure about that. I don't see supporting traditional marriage as being anti-gay. Personally, the state should offer civil unions, let the biblical organizations offer marriages. IMHO this whole affair is moronic at best. We have much bigger problems that needs to be dealt with, than who marries who.

So when right wingers don't like the opinions of a left leaning buisness owner they should punish him her in the same way? Boycott the business? Stand out front with signs? Ruin his/her business? You know that wouldn't happen. This Muslim will forget his Koran and... what's the damn difference? Just who are the real bigots here anyway JJC?

Wish the majority of Americans thought like that.
