Default US House approves $650m cut in Pakistan aid

WASHINGTON: The US House of Representatives voted to cut $650 million in military assistance to Pakistan on Thursday, acquiescing to Republican demands for deeper reductions in aid to Islamabad.
“They (Pakistan) have proven to be deceptive and deceitful and a danger to the United States,” said Rep. Poe, adding that Pakistan did not deserve US money.
Poe went on to add that Pakistan was a bad ally before they closed the Nato supply routes, adding that they didn’t need to pay Pakistan to betray the US as Islamabad would do it for ‘free’.

Rep. Poe says some hard words. But he's saying them ! Not trying to be all diplomatic and BS put-water-in-wine. Pakistan, if not doing it voluntarely, has failed to prove itself as a reliable ally.

If Pakistan complains, that'd make me laugh like when a kid that's been bad says "So unfair..."

Wow. Politicians using their inside voices on the outside.

I wonder if instead of sending Pakistan aid money they could send a bill instead?

Any bets on how long until the US Embassy in Pakistan is lit on fire....again?

Or how about bets on how long until Pakistan is a radioactive self lit parking lot?

How do you say "giant angry Chernobyl" in urdu?

Harsh words, but IMO it seems like the right thing to do. Pakistan doesn't seem like the most reliable out of the US' allies (based on my extremely limited knowledge on the relationship between the two countries).
On the other hand, I can see why Pakistan might not be too fond of the US either, when dozens of their soldiers and civillians have perished in US drone attacks. Which is at least one of the reasons why the closed down the border crossings, halting NATO supply trucks.

Some trucks and drivers have been waiting for months to return to the road. Entry points to Afghanistan were closed after the United States mistakenly killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in an airstrike last November.
But truck owners say they are not moving until they are compensated for the money lost during the shutdown that stranded more than 1,500 shipments on the road.

Muhammad Khan, who owns 310 trucks, said he and others deserve to get paid.

“The round figure for the 210 days that these trucks have been held up is $15 million,” said Khan.
