I can't watch the news coverage of incidents like this beyond the initial coverage anymore since so much crap gets pumped out in a vain attempt to fill airtime. I was just looking at an ABC new story on it and had this at the start -

They don't have to fill in the airtime during "breaking news".
Odd is that the more news outlets there are, the more their actual function is taken over by social media.
For example, usually this forum gives you a better and faster coverage on events than mainstream news outlets.

I find it interesting that this cowardly assclown kitted himself up like the shooters in North Hollywood, but when confronted by Police officers that would actually return fire he simply surrendered. Not that that's a bad thing. Probably saved more casualties.

Apparently many theaters are now ramping-up security.

On the link they're arguing whether the shooter is a Republican or a Democrat and I'm not really sure how or why that matters?

Why make these turn this thing into a gun control debate when you can skip the pleasantries and go to the heart of the matter: straight-out attacking the other political side. Especially when election year is coming up.
****ing opportunistic political vermin. Evil does not play by party, racial, or religious lines, though it would gladly use it to its advantage.
Going along that, the random speculation as to whether the **** was Islamist, a survivalist, wanting to be Bane, etc is equally as silly. We'll see as this unfolds.

The only thing that I would most likely predict is that there is an element of attention-whoring to a high degree to this tragedy.

In a Friday proclamation, President Obama ordered the flags on public buildings flown at half mast in honor of the victims of the shooting in Aurora, Colo "as a mark of respect."

The order applies to the "White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States," as well as military bases, embassies and consulates abroad.

Flags should be flown at half-mast until July 25th, according to the directive.

Aurora, Colo., police and FBI officials told Denver NBC affiliate 9News Friday morning that the suspect in the early Friday movie theater mass shooting has "b00by-trapped" his apartment with a sophisticated setup of flammable devices that could take authorities days to disarm.

"It's pretty sophisticated the way it's b00by-trapped," Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates told 9News. "We could be here for hours, we could be here for days."
