I think it's weird that US does not have firearm safety course in public schools...but some of them have mandatory swimming class, driving class, rape prevention lecture and a lot of other fancy stuff.
Consider that firearms is part of US Constitutions, and a person is very likely to encounter firearms some point in the life.
a firearm safety class could only benefit to society.
I would highly recommend incorporate such course or lecture to public schools, could be simply as watching firearm safety video.
but surely some people would claim it's an NRA conspiracy.
They have a mandatory handgun safety test here in California for buying handgun, but not rifle. and doesn't help the general public who doesn't own firearms.
A similar course in school could help people who don't, or can't own firearms. (who are the majority of population in California)
BTW, "Principles of Personal Protection" does address on counter ambush(that's why I bringing it up), the essay is mostly address on situation awareness and combat mindset
Even if you don't or can't own a weapon (disregard what type of weapon), I still highly recommend this essay.
And that is precisely what happened.

Private property...ok please do travel from Boston to Chicago on private property alone. Do any meaningful sort of travel without plates. And then come and tell us how it went.
Ought Six: Public roads...a privilege? Oh god, still stuck on those 18th/19th century turnpikes?
^ Score one for Puffs.
Yes, I'm having a Diet Coke and am keeping score.
One thing that's entirely blinded out here is the incomparability of the Japanese and the American society, and that what works in Japan doesn't automatically have to function in America and vice versa.
