    look at the siloute of te figurine, the long stretched out leg must resemble another octopus, so it attacked

    always thought they'd be in deeper waters or near their coral homes for protection, but something made it come out

    I think its coloring and outline resemble a crab from below, which is the natural prey of octopi.

    Spot on. That's exactly what the fisherman said was the reason the doll worked.
