    Violent protest in the Republic of the Philippines.

    Several policemen were injured when they confronted protesters along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

    The altercation occurred while President Benigno Aquino III delivered his State of the Nation Addres Monday afternoon.

    MMDA traffic discipline office head Yves Gonzalez tweeted photos of part of Commonwealth Avenue, near the Ever Gotesco, where he indicated "several police were injured."

    "Kaguluhan. Now fixing the traffic mess it created," he also said in the tweet.

    Earlier, the Philippine National Police blocked a portion of Commonwealth Avenue near the Batasan Pambansa to prevent protest from getting to close to the SONA venue.

    Also, a report from dzRH radio said militants had hurled stones and debris along Commonwealth Avenue, with the fray starting shortly before Aquino started his SONA at 4 p.m.

    A report by GMA News' Raffy Tima said that a TV5 cameraman was hit by a rock during the scuffle. ó DVM, GMA News
