Actually it was close to 35 years. Russia had the base from 1979-2002 and when Vietnam asked for higher rent Russia declined and abandoned the base.

But now with Russia being dangerously close to losing Tartus, its only Logical Russia would be looking for another base outside of the CIS.

What makes you think Russia will lose Tartus?

Honestly how would you know what the training was? You've never served in the Canadian, US or Russian forces, so you have no basis to judge what was done. so wind in the strong crew auxillary neck and maybe learn something. There was no insult in his post.

Except for trolling. I guess you missed his other post. Greatest in the world, right? I guess you will believe that.

Also, I guess you served in US Special forces Green Beret?

Edit: also go after others while you are at it, Like Sashko or something. It is just getting kind of tiring.

I made a simple observation. The VDV trained with the most elite Special Forces in the world in a effort to better themselves.

Its a possibility, if the Syrian civil war turns south for Assad and the Jihadits become drunk on power. It's also a possibility that Russia could retain the base by not acknowledging the "legitimacy" of the Rebel regime and the Rebs, weary of another conflict, will just say fine. Another possibility, Assad triumphing over the Insurgents and allowing Russia more facilities for accommodating it's large ships and crew and soon Tartus has expanded from a minor Maintenance port into a full fledged naval vase.

I just listed the worst possible outcome.

They could lose it simply by a new government having a major dislike to Russia for their stance with Assad. That is the possibility.

You know what Child, I have carried a weapon for my country where I live, You Havent.

again you have No experience to base what the training was but have declared it BS because it hurts your idea that the Russians might learn something or the USSF might as well. Now you can continue being a child or maybe learn something.

Nice. So, can you please once again explain to me your training with the Green Berets and what makes them the best special forces in the world, since you want to defend Eagle's comment? Or are you just going to throw insults around and try to explain that you were at the borders of Eastern Germany?

Another AK vs M16 style flamebait?

You never provided the specifics of this uber training btw. Or does the elitness factor simply ooze on others when sitting in the same air conditioned classroom as the Green Berets?

    I acknowledged that:

By war turning south I meant Assad dethroned and Russia kicked out.

Offtopic: Guys, seriously do we need another flame war?

Also, even though there is the past, at least Russia has a better past with Vietnam (well, what Vietnam is now) compared to the US, yet many here still seemed to think that they can become allies now...
I've heard that there could be been some gas and oil in Cuban waters

A thread about possible Russian naval bases in Vietnam in Cuba of course leads to LineDoggie claiming that Raul Castro is going to end up like Mussolini and that bird guy saying the Green Berets own.

    Good stuff.
