It'll all be forgotten by Monday morning.
Maybe he's referring to the Britwits in the media over there and the lsm over here.
Frankly I prefer someone that calls a spade a spade instead of all the flowery BS that none of us believe. All in all much ado about nothing.
Besides it not like (some) euros hold back on insulting America or Americans at any chance they get.
It'll all be forgotten by Monday morning.
Didn't the security firm boss get hauled up in front of Parliament? Even over here in the wayward colonies we have been hearing lots of news about the Olympic problems, largely from British media sources. So why when a foreigner gives the same sort of criticism, it is all of a sudden verboten?
give ole Mitt a break, his comments were no doubt inspired by this:

I wouldn't dispute it. However it's not the best diplomatic form to do so on television, while a guest in their country for a major event.
Piers Morgan is a **** and nobody here likes him anyway
It's a national pride thing. It's similar to how I can laugh at my brother, but if you do it I'll get very defensive. We all do it, it's childish and immature, but that doesn't stop us.
Nobody would dispute that G4S fvcked up royally and should answer for it. You guys on here giving us a hard time is all fair and good banter, but at the level of Romney and Cameron, everyone is an ego covered in skin, what they say will be represented as what their country thinks and the media are constantly looking for something that can be described as a "slam" the next day in the headlines. When Romney made the comments he did, Cameron was forced to make a snide comeback, or lose face.
Given he was apparantly here to show off his international skills, he shot himself in the foot a bit. He'd have been better served by saying something like "I was worried when I heard about G4S failing to fufill their contractual obligations, but I understand the issue was resolved now that the armed forces have covered their shortcomings". He can then earn points for saying how much he loves our armed forces, what great allies we are and what a great job we're doing in Afghanistan. He could well be thinking "this is bloody awful", but it's all part of the great game of diplomacy.

Bring back Webb.
Magic Pants needs to stay home, kiss some babies and stay focused on the Economy. I swear the Republican party would screw up a wet dream. Stay focused on Obama's nightmarish economy. Mitt will be fine but this was not a necessary trip.
I don't have a problem with Romneys comments - only saying what we were all saying here in the Uk, security formerly in the hands of the pisspot keystone cops, is now under the control of a professional organisation, and the border guards had cynically timed a strike for the day before, voted for by only 20% of their union members, and ultimately climbed down.
Problems sorted, great opening ceremony (although I went to watch a rugby match instead), over to the athletes now.
Its July by November it will be long forgotten. However Romney just should have said when asked "There has been some issues but they are being addressed. Next question."
OK article on Mitts visit to the UK and a lovely photo of Mitt and Tony Blair.http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-0...don-talks.htmlIt was supposed to be Mitt Romney’s flawless world stage debut. Instead, the Republican presidential candidate spent the start of his overseas trip fending off a furor over his London Olympics comments and scrutiny of a fundraiser with bankers linked to the Libor rate-fixing scandal.
Romney made a very minor gaffe. The British media went into a feeding frenzy and whipped up into something gigantic to sell newspapers. Now the American media is jumping on the bandwagon for the same reason. SSDD.
