The latest argument occurred days after the international teams were warned by International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge that athletes who feign injuries to avoid confronting athletes from other countries would be suspended.
From your own source...So I really doubt the demand from the Lebanese was anything close to what the Israelis have described. IE we will not train with them. And that article does not give any source.

Doubt it all you want Kot...

I hope we get a chance to see a Lebanese put to compete against an Israeli in these games as that will leave you without any option of putting a spin to things.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has threatened to withdraw from the London 2012 Olympic Games unless their female judo athlete, Wodjan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shahrkhani is allowed to wear her headscarf.

The International Olympic Committee has been organising an urgent meeting with the Saudi Arabia national Olympic committee officials, the international judo federation, and London Olympic organisers to try and avert the Saudi withdrawal.

”Yes we have heard that the Saudis are not happy and we will have an urgent meeting, certainly in the next two days,” an IOC spokesperson told Telegraph Sport.

The issue is particularly sensitive as Rogge had spent many months personally interested in ensuring Saudi Arabian women were participating in the London Games after initial reticence by the Saudi royal family.

Saudi Arabia had been the only foreign country which appeared not to be sending any female athletes to the Games.

But just weeks ago the IOC announced that two female athletes would represent Saudi Arabia at the Games: Wujdan Shahrkhani in judo and Sarah Attar in track and field.

At the time the Saudis said the women could compete only if they were allowed to wear appropriate Muslim clothing.

But those plans were thrown into chaos on Thursday night when International judo Federation president Marius Vizer said Shahrkhani could not fight with a headscarf, because of safety concerns and “according to the principles and spirit of judo.”

Judo spokesman Nicolas Messner said the hijab could be dangerous because the sport involves strangleholds and chokeholds. However judo federations within Asia have previously allowed Muslim women to wear hijabs.
from my source regarding rules are rules are they arent made to bent.

Nobody has denied the story and I dont know how to check if a formal complaint has been filled to the IOC. And again from my source, Rogge has warned athletes to do not feign injuries, as it happened before. This is a complete new development on stupidity and discrimination.

The problem again is this...the Lebanese did never refuse to train.

"We started to practice. They came and they saw us - they didn't like it and they went to the organizers," Feraro told *******. "They put up some kind of wall between us. Everyone went on and there was no interaction between us."
So there is this small issue in reporting. They asked for a barrier first and foremost, and then they trained. A lot of interpreting and politics going on the Israeli team for people who want only to compete.

And please do explain how does the IOC indulges in rule bending. The IOC does not control the national federations.

What Spin? The athletes will be suspended...pretty dumb, all that training for nothing.

Indeed it's dumb but to them it's a noble sacrifice apparently.

Hows that? what if you go up a bus and you have to seat at the bottom? its just interpretation? its plain old discrimination, or people who wanted only to take a ride on the bus to work has to like it?

Federations that do not adhere to the IOC rules cant compete. I wonder why those Asian federations were admitted on the PreOlympics qualifications without adhering to the IOC rules.

Your spin is in trying to claim that politics are not involved in the Lebanese request to put up a barrier while casting doubt on the Israeli team's version of what happened.

Which is fair enough... you have the benefit of the doubt on this but here's me hoping that both you and the Lebanese team won't be able to use this when it really matters.

Because more than often the *Pre-Olympics* can be International Championships in which the IOC has little say. The IJF however can act...which and that is the fun part it does not. Furthermore with the new World Ranking List one is not forced to go through Pre-Olympics.

Again, it is not a spin or whatever. They cannot pull the same stunt in competition, else they will be suspended. BUT, the whole they refused to train with us affair, while obviously the Lebanese went straight to the point and asked for a barrier without not even blinking...there looks to be a little something of a ragefit.

Edit: they did not asked for the Israelis to leave, they put screens to preserve from the other team. Do you scream when opposing teams isolate themselves during football, basketball worldcups?

Can you imagine the response Israel would receive if the roles were reverse?

One would think they'd relish the potential opportunity to throw, sweep, choke, and otherwise kick the ass of a group of people they seem to despise. Though, my money'd probably be on the Israelis in such a match up.

Hard to do so when there is a discrepancy in genders...

When I did judo, we fought male/male, female/female, and male/female. I'm not up to speed on what the Olympic standards are because I don't watch sports/fighting on TV; kind of seems like watching p*rn when I could be having s*x. But, in my experience, there was rarely a serious advantage for a particular gender -- in fact, there were two Russian girls that could quite literally beat the sh*t out of pretty much everybody on the mat.

Means there is no point as they cannot compete against one another in the Olympics. So, really the macho pancho is only going to get them hurt.
