Arrow Olympics Opening Ceremony....Healthcare skit...giant hospital beds etc.

I watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics, and there were IMO good parts and odd parts. The entire skit of the celebration of the UK healthcare system was, well....I guess "odd" is the polite way of saying it. I am sure the UK is proud of its healthcare system as that same area is the devil in the USA and some other countries. The UK has developed a way of making it work. However, the idea of celebrating it at the Olympics with a huge skit with giant baby heads and giant beds, doctors and nurses dressed up, etc, was....again...odd.

It seems to me, that to the outside world, that would be about as interesting as if the USA had a skit here on the Social Security system. Boring.

and as the announcer here said last night, the giant baby head, he didn't know if it was cute or "creepy".

Discuss..and all the Brits may now start to bash me.

By the way the skit with the guys on bikes with glowing butterfly wings....what the heck? It was like someone may have designed the whole thing while high on drugs? The music and the glowing giant butterfly wings...I guess I am not a proper person to appreciate such beauty.

Don't forget the lesbian Nurses.... I don't disagree, the NHS love-in was strange.... I get the GOSH (Great Ormand Street Hospital... a place i owe my life to)... but the big NHS light up thing...

    Strange.

well I don't know how many people it took to do those skits...but it was a lot of people, and the money to make the odd skits all happen...not to mention to beam it around the world as the big celebration of the opening. The entry of the athletes was neat though......

I enjoyed seeing all the different countries athletes enter, something like 200 plus countries? They seemed to enjoy it also...the only annoying part of that, was each athlete seemed to have a digital camera being held up trying to make their own video of the event, thus blocking the view of their own face. The forest of arms holding up cameras was a big annoying.

The show was a bit too politically correct. Why were there so many blacks in the show when they only represent 5% of the population?

I noticed that also....one of the "flat" large flags being carried in, held by members of the UK armed forces, on the side toward the camera they made sure to have one black soldier, and one female soldier.

We can't win on that one. If they'd all been white males, we'd be hearing complaints that black and women service personell weren't represented.

Despite the epic retardness of your post here is your answer
London and around population were used as extras
So it is rather the ethnic proportions in the Capital
Now crawl back in your hole

I think blacks are, for some reason or another (more talent?) over represented in dancing.
Perhaps they just dance better. And I guess most of the people in front of the cameras were professionals.

If they had really used representative people, there should have been a lot more beards and burquas

But the NHS skit and the whole show was weird in that it was deliberately done from a small people's perspective.
Maybe to offset the "big money" reputation the London Olympics have made sofar.

With all the children's choirs singing and then the GOSH skit, I sort of had an epiphany: One child singing a nursery rhyme a little slowly is the perfect soundtrack for a horror movie.

I don't get it. The thing that is discussed here is the amount of blacks during the OOC ?
Mmmmmm interesting from a psy pov

Now have you noticed guys, that there were also Asians, Indians, Pakistanis and that not all white extras were typically english looking
Is it all that has to be discussed here ??

On my side i found the OOC "interesting"
The idea to show the history transformation of the country through dynamic living pictures was interesting
I found some choice pretty poors or not accurate, others were greatly implemented but that's me and to every body his taste
On the other hand the music was pretty mmeuuu (drums and drums again, it was more the Bronx OOC than the London OOC)

And i agree with something what is said above but marching athletes should be forbidden cameras
They are here on official presentation, not on a tourist march ffs....
