What the hell is wrong with these people?A 16-year-old Saudi boy could be beheaded unless he pays SR28 million ($ 7.7 million) diya (blood money) to the family of another boy he killed in a fight nearly three years ago, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.
The parents of Samih Al Ruwaili said they had so far raised around SR10 million and appealed for public help as the clock began ticking for his execution next month, the Arabic language daily Sharq said.
“We have managed to get SR10 million…I don’t know how we will pay all this sum in just a few weeks,” said his father, Ayed Al Ruwaili.
“His mother never stops crying and praying to God to save our son…I do not have all this money and pray to God that some one will help us.”
Samih stabbed the other boy to death during a scuffle in the northern Saudi town of Sakaka. He was sentenced to death in line with Islamic law but the victim’s relatives offered to pardon him in return for SR29 million.
Sharq said the court set Ramadan 26 as the date for Samih’s beheading.
He's underage, and when the killing occured, he was 13. A fight that got out of control, I sincerely doubt that the killing was premeditated

In Malaysia, India and Singapore the age of criminal responsibility starts at 10 following our Penal Code. It used to be even lower than that. However, death sentence cannot be handed out to a person who committed the crime before 18. Just FYI
Hudud Law: If my knowledge is correct, upon found guilty the family of the victim may demand 1 of the 3 option to be handed out upon the murderer.
1) Death sentence;
2) Payment of Diyah (blood money) equal to the price of 100 camels
3) Let him go (still liable for imprisonment realistically).
Seems to me the family chose no.2, and upon failing would go for (1).
Oh, and if I'm not mistaken under Hudud the measure of criminal responsibility is puberty and maturity (to know the act is wrong) instead of a specific age. Seems like the kid fulfills the criteria. He's sh*t out of luck here.
No sympathy, daddy should have taught his darling son not to go around stabbing people.
I'm aware of the Hudud, but the idea of beheading a kid unless he pays in the millions (showing that the rich can get away with a confessed murder) simply does not compute with me.
LD, do you know details of the killing? Even if the kid just came up to the victim and killed them for one reason or another, which I highly doubt, he should sit in jail.
At least the crime in question is murder...

No problem with giving him the death penalty, but to offer them to pay themselves out of that situation is sickening, both to the victim of the crime and the family of the offender.
Maybe the family should offer a discount on the beheading pardon and live like decadent Jews for a decade or 2.
Now I'm not a camel connoisseur myself, but the rule is: 30 female camel 2 years old, 30 female camels 3 years old and 40 pregnant camels. So in short, we're talking premium quality camels here
It could be a lot worse - the original rule is for the offender to pay it out of his own effort, his family couldn't bail him out.
You dont know the details of the Killing either so dont try and lecture me. in the end this teen was carrying a weapon and used it against someone who wasnt armed. Again I dont have to have sympathy for Stabby ali Muhammed or Stabby Joe Bubba. at 13 I knew If I did something Like that I would be a Murderer, but thats how my parents raised me.
How do you know all that ?
There is only one article on this case in english and it mentions only a "fight" and no mention of what the opponent did or if he was unarmed - Could be a case of self-defense or manslaughter.
Saudi Arabia is one of the most backwards countries on this planet, investing just one inch of trust/believe in their "justice" system is a waste. I would handle all news and sentences that come out of that hole with alot of suspicion.
Wouldn't be the first time they behead someone innocent.

Again I dont give a ****. He stabbed the other kid and Killed him. I was raised you dont go around carrying stabby things and stabbing people with it, YMMV. I have no sympathy for him and dont have to have sympathy for him. Cry your eyes out for him if you wish, contribute for his safety if you wish, Not me.
