That kid is done for. Sucks to be him but that is how the Muslim's roll.
To quote Lemmy from Motorhead.
He was killed by death!
Could not care less about how the murder took place or the details of the local law... as a European, the idea that you either pay or you die, as part of a state recognize judicial system is appalling! For me, it's in the same category as, you either pay a fine or have state forced abortion in the 7th month of pregnancy.

Pretty messed up that they put a "pay or die" fee on a crime. However, I am sure people know the laws of the land. I have zero sympathy for the kid. He stabbed someone to death in a street fight between two 13 year olds.
It's probably the victim's family way of saying "Off with your head!!!" by demanding the ridiculous amount of money. To make the vengeance/retaliation more sweeter by giving the murderer false hope or freedom and prolonging the terror while actually in the end he'll face the executioner.
the pay for pardon thing is sick.
So he killed a guy - either give him death sentence or don't.
This way his parents will probably forever regret how they had a remote chance to save him but couldn't manage in time.
First off, what sort of value should the parents of the murdered child put on their kids life?
I know my kids lives are priceless, so while it may seem to be extremely high, I think it's quite reasonable really.
Maybe that's part of it, punish the criminal and punish the family. Lesson to be learned? Don't raise you kids to be criminals and they wont lose their heads. I'm no expert in Saudi legal code but I do know most of these hardcore Islamic states are running on laws and values that are centuries old. They aren't with us in modern times. And way back in them olden days it was quite common to punish ones family along with the criminal. Sure this is cruel but maybe that's what they want, for the rest of the village/town/city to see what happens.
Not my country so I wont pass judgement on how they do business. If that crap stared happening here I would die before I just let it take over. They have the system they deserve. Everyone does when it comes down to it.
