Heh! Anyone who actually thinks they can control the American economy is deeply deluded. I do not think even Bernanke is that stupid. I would say he is more desperate than confident when it comes to his 'control of America'.

You know what I mean with control. The FED is the only "political" answer ATM.
Both parties have to wake up before Ben is out of ammo.

obama's opponents believe that he can control the economy.

the fed can only control the speed at which money flows via interest rates. Though ramping up or slowing down the flow of money doesnt always result in positive effects.

No, they believe he can damage it, which is a very different thing than controlling it. It is quite easy to break stuff, but quite difficult to fix and properly manage it.

The Fed does a hell of a lot more than just that. They print $hundreds of billions$ out of thin air and loan it to the fedgov by buying T-bills with it, monetizing the debt. They call it 'quantitative easing'. Regular people call it legalized fraud.

    There goes another one.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...ULX_story.html

Republican Rep. Steven LaTourette of Ohio, a nine-term lawmaker and a close confidant of House Speaker John Boehner, said Tuesday he was frustrated with the political stalemate in Washington and won’t seek re-election.
“It’s been my experience that compromise, cooperation, getting something done, is not rewarded,” he said. “The group of people that are interested in that type of result — the circle’s becoming smaller and smaller.’”

    This.

I would like to see a more TRULY REPRESENTATIVE congress. Where the leanings of each Republican and Democrat are more in tone with the state they represent than the party line they are supposed to follow. For example a Republican/Democrat from Texas is gonna have a totally different agenda than a Republican/Democrat from Massachusetts. This way the political leaning of the entire US is fairly represented.

If the Representative from my State is more Right/Left leaning that what the party dictates, well thats just that. The Representative got elected by the people of the state, not the people of the party. To each their own.
