Okay, here it is. I tried the Anniversario against the Zacpaca. The outcome is no contest. The Anniversario is a fine amber rum; a nice but strong experience, yet reasonably smooth. That being said, the Zapcapa is the winner, hands down. It is darker, but not sweeter or heavier like Myers. The Zacapa is just very, very silky smooth like a truly fine very, very old whiskey. It has no bite at all. Not just a little bite; none at all. It is really that smooth. It is so tasty and fine that it is hard to do it justice in the spoken language.
I am encouraged in that I even found Ron Zacapa in our local Safeway. I cannot recommend Ron Zapaca strongly enough as the very best sipping rum for the buck out there. It blows the hell out of everything else I have tired thus far.
Now I have to try that Haitian $70 a bottle stuff.... This research is not helping my retirement fund.
