The tax accusation is a pretty dumb one to make anyway, as all Romney has to do to ridicule his accusers is to make his tax forms public. Plus, wasn't there some "outrage" a few months ago, during the Republican primaries, that he had "only" paid 13.5% income taxes in 2010 or 2011? Unless Romney worked benevolently in some charity kitchen for a full year, it doesn't seem to fit with the new claim that he didn't pay anything.

If he did not break the law, what is the problem? Income evasion is against the law, income tax avoidance is not against the law. There is nothing saying that you have to pay more that what the law prescribes. That goes for all US citizens.

The typical american wont see this tax issue as illegal. Unfair? maybe. Then again there are alot of laws that are unfair (affirmative action for instance, GUN CONTROL LAWS).

You dont think from a PR Point of view, if it comes out that he only pays 15 percent in taxes for his income (incentived stock options) that it doesnt look bad?

You have to realize that he is being tried in the court of PUBLIC opinion on this issue, and not the court of law.

Arrow Reince Priebus: Sen. Harry Reid Is a ‘Dirty Liar’

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...medium=twitter

Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus called Sen. Harry Reid a “dirty liar” this morning on “This Week” for accusing presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney of not paying taxes for ten years.

“As far as Harry Reid is concerned, listen, I know you might want to go down that road. I’m not going to respond to a dirty liar who hasn’t filed a single page of tax returns himself. (He) complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz Carlton here down the street,” Priebus said. “So if that’s on the agenda, I’m not going to go there. This is just a made-up issue. And the fact that we’re going to spend any time talking about it is ridiculous.”
Looks like the Repubs are counterattacking.

His fellow Democrats as well. I watched him be called a liar by his own party on CNN this morning.

The Romney campaign has been far too passive. The instinct to try not to go negative is admirable, but will be fatal. They need to not only fight back vigorously and quickly against such attacks. They also need to go much more on the offense on the issues, which they are slowly starting to do. The issues work for Romney and against Obama, which is why the Obama campaign is desperately trying to distract the voters from them. If Romney does not figure out a way to break through the media blockade and hammer Obama on the issues, then he will lose.

For one thing Romney has had to file Personal finance documents with the feds since 2008 as a candidate. you can easily look them up on Open Secrets.com

If Romney had NOT paid taxes the IRS would have publically been called upon to verify that and investigate it. This is the same **** as Piglosi saying she had dirt on that other idiot Gingrich but she never gave any evidence to back up her mouth.

This is Harry Reid doing his usual smear, do it back in spades

I hear Harry Reid likes to fist teenage Boys and every thursday night gets himself a Cleveland Steamer from a Homeless Man named Jake behind the Sands casino. This is according to anonymous sources of course. He has for 10 years reveled in the low fiber diet Jake lives on.

I feel their strategy is to wait and spring their trap at the end of the campaign when their points will be best remembered and the opposition have the least time to counter. It is reflected in the spending so far. but likely, first impressions will be lasting impressions. Right now, things look a little passive and bumbling.

People said the same about McCain and his campaign, but it turned out there was no last-minute surprise strategy. He was just running a really crappy campaign. I fear Romeny is another Dukakis so far as his campaign skills, and will hand Obama another term on a silver platter. We shall see.

I thought McCain ran a good and decent campaign. But that's me.

Arrow Romney calls on Reid to reveal source as fact-check sites challenge tax claim

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012...nge-tax-claim/

But PolitiFact wrote that it is "far-fetched" to believe Romney paid no taxes for 10 years. Further, the article stated the obvious -- "Reid has produced no evidence to back up his claim other than attribution to a shadowy anonymous source."

PolitiFact concluded: "Reid has made an extreme claim with nothing solid to back it up." They gave the accusation a "Pants on Fire!" rating.

The Washington Post's fact-check column, too, gave Reid's remark the equivalent of a "Pants on Fire!" score. The Post gave it "four Pinocchios," which is the newspaper's score for a claim they knock down.

"Without seeing Romney's taxes, we cannot definitively prove Reid incorrect. But tax experts say his claim is highly improbable. Reid also has made no effort to explain why his unnamed source would be credible. So, in the absence of more information, it appears he has no basis to make his incendiary claim," the Post wrote.

The White House, meanwhile, has distanced itself from Reid's remark. Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday the Senate Democratic leader "speaks for himself."

My two cents on Reid is that old fart should be more worried about passing a budget. WTF! That senile old bastard.
What happened Nevada? Why do you keep electing this dinosaur?

You realize that they destroyed Gingrich with sh*t tons of money and carpet bombed him with negative ads right? Nothing more admirable about them than any other campaign....
