In France, it's every first wednesday that you get the sirens.

Well that makes more sense I though you were saying it was a war/airstrike alarm like Sweden.

Dayum is the cold war still on?

They are operated by 'Civil Defence', should we ever be at war again they will be used for their original pupose.

In our case, the test signal is different from an actual alarm.

Yup, we get it the first saturday, and the test signal is the same as the one when the danger ends.

In France too, every first wednesday of the month, just to make sure it still works well.
(so in case of a true attack/invasion we can prepare our white flags )

In Bulgaria the sirens are tested twice a year, but there is a Rememberence day for all fallen for the country on June 2nd, one minute duration. Everyone stands still and work is usually interrupted.

Sad but true here in Germany we stopped testing our sirens years ago. They are still there, mainly
to use them in case of a catastrophe.
I can remember they were tested once in a year, back in the 70īs and 80īs.
My grandmother then always started to tell about the "Amis" and "Tommys" bombing the Ruhrgebiet...

Nevertheless, respect to the brave people of Warsaw !

My deepest respect to the brave fighters of Warsaw!

In rural Germany, the sirens are still tested on the first Saturday of each month.

Gives me goosebumps every time although I am a big boy and not easily scared.
