How long would a strike put them back ?
Former Mossad chief's statement comes as Netanyahu warns time for diplomacy running out amid speculation an attack may take place before US elections.

Yada, yada, yada....
Hey, we should take bets! What will happen first...a theoretical Israeli-Iranian conflict, or the entropic heat death of the universe? I'm betting on the latter!
It could well be more psyche warfare to keep the IRC up at night.
Interesting that Halevi makes a statement of this nature...
Out of all the former heads of the Mossad he is probably considered to be among the most "diplomatic" (for lack of a better description) and quite the moderate.
He's also been quite vocal in underplaying the potential nuclear threat from Iran.
Serious guy is serious.

As amusing as it is that we've seen a million of these kinds of warnings for the last few years (especially on MP.net), I wouldn't bet on the latter. Either Israel, for whatever reason, decides to change their minds and let them have the weapon or they're going to try to stop them.
I'm betting on the latter. I mean my latter, not your latter. You know.
If it's a Psyops thing it's embarrassing to even read it. Don't make promises you can't keep

Halevi has made public statements in the past (as recently as last year) that contradicted Bibi's and Barak's rhetoric in regards to Iran's nuclear program so I doubt that he relies on the government's green light when talking on the subject or is instructed on the subject.
For sure, it would be patriotic for an Israeli to give a warning to a foe. This is a part of "let's-mess-with-their-heads" campaign. The Israelis and the USA own the night, and will not strike when the daylight is at the longest in the summer. Secondly, in the summer the economies accumulate oil reserves for winter. The world can survive for a couple of weeks with no oil from the gulf in November, but it is impossible in July/August, with the summer holiday peak travel time.
